How to Teach a Kitten Its Name, Sit and Come

Training a kitten is a delightful and important part of raising a well-behaved, happy cat. Kittens can learn simple commands, and early socialization helps them grow up calm and confident:

  • Name recognition: Call your kitten's name often, especially during playtime and feeding. Reward them when they respond.
  • Sit: Hold a treat above your kitten's head, move it back so their head follows, and their bottom touches the ground. Once they sit, say "Sit" and give the treat.
  • Come: Use a special treat or toy and call your kitten's name followed by "Come." Reward them with treats and praise when they come to you.
  • Expose to new experiences: Introduce your kitten to different people, sounds, and environments gradually. This helps them become well-adjusted and less fearful.
